what are the two strange holes for on uk stamps? Question: On the front of UK stamps, there are 2 little holes at the bottom left and right. When you pull the stamp off the backing (when in a stamp booklet) sometimes these little bits of the stamp get left behind, other times they don't. What are they for? does it matter if I stick them on the stamp with the hole bits actually missing? I can't seem to find any answers to this on the Internet! Answer: Remember when they used to put price stickers on things in super markets? They used a plastic Stamp gun where they would pull the trigger and a price sticker would come out. Well the little holes in UK Stamps are for stamp guns because they are fed on a thin ribbon and the holes are for the gun to they can pull the ribbon through. It is used so companies can just pull the trigger and press it to a parcel instead of individual peeling one off a sheet. |

Many old stamps. Will the value go up on them if i keep them or should I sell them? Question: I have tons of old stamps, in collectors booklets, if I keep them longer will the value increase, or should I just sell them individually? WHat is the best thing to do? Answer: Keep them! There are tones of stamp collectors out there that can evaluate the price of your stamps, don't get one guys opinion on this though, some may evaluate it more or less depending on themselves. Keep regular maintenance on the stamps and simply wait. I know one guy who had a stamp sell for just over $5,000, they can really be a little money nest! |

Royal Mail stamps with strange perforations and colour ? Question: A friend of mine just showed me a booklet of 1st class stamps. All the stamps are perforated in 2 places with oblong shapes - which is very strange and also the colour of these stamps is slightly more gold than the usual 1st class stamps. I was wondering if they could be worth anything to a collector ? Answer: erm... that's normal now. it's to stop people re-using stamps. the little oblongs remain stuck on the envelope even if you manage to peel off the rest of the stamp successfully. |

how much are my stamps worth? Question: I have 187 10 cents saving stamps .the booklet says 1964 on it and it looks old. This is a united states saving stamp album.i have two of these bookletes.Do you know anyone interested?please help me out. Answer: I think that what you have is similar to this eBay lot: http://cgi.ebay.com/c1955-US-Savings-Stamps-booklet-S1-x-87 _W0QQitemZ380134813438QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash= item5881cceefe&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 I would have thought that they would be worth somewhere near face value. I recall that when I was in grade school in the early 1960s, they used to sell these one day a week, and they were redeemable for US Savings Bonds (and may still be). Added Later: Check out the last question on the US Treasury FAQs linked below - They are still redeemable for savings bonds. http://www.ustreas.gov/education/faq/markets/redemption.h tml http://www.ustreas.gov/education/faq/markets/redemption.html |

What is the value of a 1/2 gallon unopened Crown Royal with 2 btle stmps and Indiana excises stamps? Question: There is the booklet "a gift for a king" hand dated on the back page 1/7/41 two tax stamps across the top and 2 Indiana excise stamps on the flair of the neck. There is no evaporation, and let us not forget the nice blue bag. Answer: Good whiskey does NOT go bad in the bottle. As for the value, and I am assuming you mean monetary, my estimate would be betwee 150.00, and 200.00 US dollars depending on the condition of the booklet, and the blue bag. Nice find. |
