The law requires such so that such instrument can be admitted in court as evidence. |

Hey Stamp collectors & philatelic experts! How can I find the value of my revenue tax & etc stamps? Question: I have a lot of old stamps that are not listed in the 2 Scott guides that I have. They are like special stamps, revenue, documentary, Western Union, cigar, playing cards etc. Is there a guide I can get to give me the info I need? Or can I get it online maybe? Not only for US but for other countries as well. One possible source of information is eBay, where you can find the seller who sell those stamps and might be selling the same stamps. They normally have the information. |

Which of the indian stamps ashok or the chakra one are used in 2007-08 and when were the ashok stamps started? Question: I am talking about the indian Re 1/- revenue stamps. I recently noticed that i had two different types with me- one with a ashoka printed and the other with the chakra printed. Which of the two was introduced later and when? Answer: Actually no one bother about revenue stamps now. Please try with a post office counter. I am not sure even they can tell you that information. If you are still so particular about that information, then write a letter to Govt. of India or Post master general under Right to Information Act paying Rs.10/- as fee for the same. |

Answer: Since 3-4 years. No change since then in the scheme. Stamp design is updated/changed slightly every 3 months as per my knowledge. Every payment above Rs.5000/- (including) is to be affixed revenue stamp. |

If there are 4 revenue stamps on a promissory note and if the person signs on only 2 of them,? Question: Then is the document viable to be canceled? Answer: Only signing on all the rev stamps is treated as valid document by the court, but part discharge of the stamps (defective document) may or not be accepted. If accepted, the court even may levy a hefty fine.So it is his responsibility to get the document properly discharged to avoid unwanted/risky situation.However the signing person has no loss. |
