What can the passenger do if he is unable to board the next flight due to the first flight delays?
Question:
The international airlines flight layover is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. 1) If the first flight is delayed that results in a passenger is unable to board the next flight, does the first airline company have obligation to help the passenger to change the airline flight? 2) If the first flight lands on time but the passenger does not catch up the next flight, does the passenger have to pay additionally for the different flight? Can you explain those two situations? Thank you. The situation is regarding to one itinerary with two flights. The first flight is international and the second one is domestic. A passenger may be unable to catch up the next domestic flight because getting through Customs can be fairly time consuming.

Answer:
You left out the key bits of information. Was this booked as one itinerary, or two separate bookings? And is this a domestic flight followed by an international flight, or the other way around? Or two international flights? If this was booked as a connection, the airline(s) has/have a responsibility to get you to your destination. It may not be as quickly as you would like, but it will happen. On the other hand, if you made two separate bookings, it's your problem, not theirs. Now, depending on what's international and what's domestic, and where (what airport) this is happening, and where the airlines (there are two involved, right?) are in relation to each other at that airport, you may have little to worry about, or a lot.

What time was the First Commercial Flight of the 747?

Answer:

Skip first flight and get on at layover stop?
Question:
So, I am going to be flying from Paris to the US in September, and I will have a layover in London at Heathrow. I am hoping to actually be in London ahead of time, and just skip my first flight, and simply take the flight from Heathrow to the US straight, skipping my first flight from Paris to London. Is this possible? Do the airlines realize what you're doing and like cancel your ticket or anything? I am doing this because it's cheaper than switching my flights and simply flying from London to the US. It's British Airways, if that makes a difference.

Answer:
You can't do that, the airline will cancel any remaining flights if you miss the first or any leg of your flight. This is true of all airlines.

Whom shall I lodge a complaint against First Flight Courier without consuming more time?
Question:
Recently I had sent a parcel from Hosur to Indore by First Flight Courier. I booked it through Air. Paid a heavy sum too. On receipt it was found to be open, packing changed and the contents lost. When I contacted relevant FF centres including FF head office in Mumbai, they said they are investigating. Till date nothing has come up. Now they are neither talking nor replying to any mail.

Answer:
This isnt the right forum for the question. However, I'd suggest approaching the Consumer Redressal Forum with your grievance. The delay would be inevitable, but if found genuine, you would be compensated for the delay along with other damages.

Missed first flight and want to change a return portion as a one way fare?
Question:
I missed my first flight but I ONLY want to use my return portion and change it into a one way. But the problem is ,the ticket is NON-REFUNDABLE so is that possible to change or upgrade the return portion to a one way fare on a non refundable ticket? how much usually that cost? I bought the round trip($1500) fyi Thanks for all the answers! I'd very appreciate it.

Answer:
A lot depends on the Airline. On United if you have a totally unused ticket you may exchange it for a new round trip or one way fare. The current change fee is $150.00. That fee was $100 and still is if you purchased your ticket before the increase took place. You would have to call and see when it went up. (sorry I can't remember). You paid 1500.00, say the new ticket is 700.00--the change fee is deducted from the left over amount and the remainder is given back to you as a travel voucher--since you had a non-refundable ticket.

Can you purposely miss your first flight and still ride your connector?
Question:
When flying, if you have a layover in a certain city, is it possible to get on the plane at that airport and just not ride your first flight at all? Also, can you change your flight with/without charge to just be from the layover city? Any ideas what the charge would be?

Answer:
no. durrr if you miss any part of your journey all remaining flights would automatically be canceled. solution to your problem? -either travel how you were supposed to with all flights included -or cancel the whole thing and rebook it how you want it.

How can I avoid anxiety on my first flight ever?
Question:
I've never flown in my life and I'm flying for the first time on Wednesday. I'm nervous. It's a short flight (an hour and a half from Toronto to Sault Ste Marie) but the thought of being 25 000 feet off the ground really freaks me out. Some tips would be well-received.

Answer:
As a pilot i feel it helpful to answer questions like these the best i can. 1) Relax. Don't let the idea of altitude get to you. Airplanes will not just fall out of the sky. 2) Don't be worried by any bumps or jolts you feel throughout the flight. This is called turbulent air, and it is caused by various different weather conditions. The aircraft WILL not fall apart in midair, we have a certain speed that we fly through turbulence that guarantees this. 3) You will most likely be on an aircraft type called the Dehavilland Dash 8. This airplane has an excellent saftey record, and performs thousands of flights per day around the world. The engines will have propellers, not the jets of the larger airliners, but don't be scared by this. The propeller driven planes are no more dangerous. 4) Some people may suggest chewing gum during descent, and this is not a bad idea, it can equalize the pressure in your ears. Trust me, you will be just fine. The pilots and flight attendants are professionals.

What if I skip first flight but make connection?
Question:
I am looking at booking a flight that would go from Charlotte, NC to Rome with a stop in Atlanta, GA. It is significantly cheaper to book it this way than to get a direct flight from Atlanta. However, I am just as close to the Atlanta airport as I am to the Charlotte airport. Is it feasible to skip my first flight in Charlotte and go to make the connection in Atlanta, or will I be flagged as a no-show and my flight in Atlanta forfeited?

Answer:
Don't do that! All airlines are smarter than this. They delete your entire reservation the second that flight departs and you were a no-show. You would have to call their 1-800 number and explain to them some lie about why you couldn't make the flight in Atlanta, and all they would do is give you a travel credit minus a huge cancellation fee. Airlines know that people book these connecting flights to save money. So their computer systems are set up now to catch that no show customer. It used to work, but the airlines got smart. Just drive the extra miles to Charlotte or pay the extra money to just fly from Atlanta...
