How many stamps to mail a BD card to a Naval ship that is over seas right now? 10 pts? Question: My niece is in the navy amd I want to send her a card. The ship is in Hong Kong for right now. Last week she was in Malaysia. The Navy sees to it that the mail gets to her. But how many stamps does it take? Answer: However many it takes for a domestic mail item for that size and weight. The way military mail works is that you pay postage from where you are to either California or New York. From there the military ships it to the location. This works as long as the address is an APO, FPO or DPO address. One other word of advice, do not put a country on the item if she is ever has a shore duty address. This can mess up the system if someone misses the APO and thinks its international. Also, mailing express doesn't do much. It will get to California or New York faster, after that it moves at the speed of the Army, Navy or Department of State. |

what is a good ending to this report on President Kennedy? Question: President John F. Kennedy John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the son of Joseph Patrick Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald, was a Harvard graduate who went on to become the 35th president of the United States. President Kennedy was charming, very clever, and bold as well. President Kennedy served only three years in the presidency office before he was assassinated on November 22, 1963. While he was in office, he faced the challenge of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Soviet Union began building missile sites in Cuba after the disastrous Bays of Pigs invasion. President J.F.K. demanded that the Soviet Union withdraw its missiles from Cuba, and ordered naval blockades of the island. Six days later, the Soviets agreed to dismantle the sites, ending the crisis. The public viewed President Kennedy as a young and promising president. He presented a good appearance and showed promise of what could be done though his ideas and programs. He got along well with the media; but in those days the press had respect for the presidency office unlike today where scandals are almost publicized more than the good things the President is doing for the country. President Kennedy was a member of the Democratic Party. C. Douglas Dillon was the only Republican on President Kennedy’s democratic cabinet, and the most influential member. This shows President Kennedy’s ability to work well with his opposing party. President Kennedy had an open communication style of leadership. He gave a task to the most capable person for the job while coordinating and leading in a way that was not dictatorial. The formation of the Peace Corporation, aid to Latin Americans, funding the space program, Food Stamp program and aid to the elderly were many of President Kennedy’s great accomplishments. Though some of what he started was not finished due to his assassination. Many remember President John F. Kennedy as someone who was young and brought new aspirations, new energy, and new goals to the White House. Answer: |

who organized opposition to Stamp Act? Question: also who was hanged by the british for being a spy around the Rev. War? and who was the famous naval officer aboard Bonhome Richard? thanks so much! Answer: In 1765, Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which required colonists to pay a new tax on most printed materials. News of the passage of the Stamp Act produced an uproar in the colonies. The colonial response echoed Adams's 1764 instructions. In June 1765, Otis called for a Stamp Act Congress to coordinate colonial resistance. The Virginia House of Burgesses passed a widely reprinted set of resolves against the Stamp Act that resembled Adams's arguments against the Sugar Act. Not only did Adams argue that the Stamp Act was unconstitutional; he also believed that it would hurt the economy of the British Empire. He supported calls for a boycott of British goods to put pressure on Parliament to repeal the tax. In Boston, a group called the Loyal Nine, a precursor to the Sons of Liberty, organized protests of the Stamp Act. Adams was friendly with the Loyal Nine, but was not a member. On August 14, stamp distributor Andrew Oliver was hanged in effigy from Boston's Liberty Tree; that night, his home was ransacked and his office demolished. On August 26, lieutenant governor Thomas Hutchinson's home was destroyed by an angry crowd. |

I have authentic Korean War pics of USS Bon Homme Richard and Essex? Question: I bought boxes of all kinds of different stuff at an estate sell 5 years back. I found these photos in an envelope. Some are stamped "Restricted" on the back, but all are stamped "OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH NOT TO BE USED FOR PUBLICATION BY ORDER OF THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS" Some are pics of fatal flight deck crashes/fires with complete detail on the back, date of event, description and even the pilots names. I know these are important historical pics! Yet, I don't want to get in trouble for having them, I just stumbled upon them, but potential divorce from extremely abusive husband forces me to inquire regarding value and how to sell. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. I can't move forward with my life without money to fight this man! Answer: hmm cool, I say you try to sell them at first, but if that breaks the law in some way, I suggest you just donate them to a museum or something like that. :0 |

Are there any traditional tattoos that represent searching? Question: Hopefully people who have educated themselves on Americana and/or International tattoo history will answer this and not just dumb idiots who get butterfly tramp stamps. I figured, I'm American... I'm not a Nationalist, but even though American culture is mostly a mixture of influences from other cultures (like the Philippines?) we still some how used all of that to develop our own culture inspired by others. I mean... isn't that how the human race works, once we're exposed to other societies? Sorry... I digressed from the main question. But I think I would be more interested in traditional American tattoos. Those are pretty much taken from military tattoos though, right? Such as swallows, anchors, feet tattoos, of Naval Officers... I just feel like it wouldn't make sense to have a Papua New Guinea style tattoo (for example) if I have no connection to their society. Answer: to snowball, its just called a moko these days People who have a moko have it on there face eg http://www.wickedlocal.com/salem/archive/x288020331/g258258a1 2bea42cb1272fbb6d0f07ee1f637f9fdebf4b8.jpg But to have it you are to be a maori etc, you are not supposed to get it if you are not maori as it is there culture and its not for anyone to copy that, they respect that and it would be dissing them if a white person got one. (i am from New Zealand and know alot of there culture) If you want a searching tatt id go for one of those pirate spyglasses - http://trustypony.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/spyglass1.jpg or what about native american indian stuff? http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/media/70/native_american_ indian_art.jpg http://tattoo.about.com/library/graphics/larrynab and.jpg http://www.native-american-indian-silver-jewelry.com/khx c/media/ccp0/prodlg/42067.jpg or like what about a compass? kinda like this, but not with the writing: http://chestofbooks.com/crafts/scientific-american/Scie ntific-American-Reference-Book/images/Points-Of-The-Compass.jpg http://www.history.navy.mil/pics/blunde_compass_b.jpg - from 1628 (pretty cool and vintage looking) or the traditional swallows: this is really cool and you could get something else written there http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs25/f/2008/107/2/c/Swallow_tattoo_by_ cjgolden73088.jpg http://newkidonthehallway.typepad.com/photos/u ncategorized/2007/09/21/swallow_tattoo_large.jpg American tatts http://www.zhippo.com/DarksideTattooHosted/images/gallery/ ACFA21.jpg http://www.tattoosymbol.com/articles/heroes.jpg http ://media.photobucket.com/image/american%20tattoos/dudemjk/america n-eagle-tattoo-design-05.jpg Lots of idea to choose from, Hope this helps |
