what spark plugs do i use for a 1981 evinrude 90 hp? Question: I have a Evinrude 1981 90hp outboard 2 stroke what is the best kind of spark plugs and gap setting to use at the moment i run the NGK B7HS-10 with a 1.00mm gap but the engine keeps running rough when cold and when hot i need to use the choke to start it.The engine has been fully serviced including carby's about 2 month's ago. Any help would be welcomed. Answer: According to my charts, you are using the correct plug. The gap is listed as .035", which is very close to 1 mm. A couple of ideas: Do a compression test. Low compression will cause a hard start. Reed valves. You will have to remove the carbs and reed plate to examine the reeds. Ignition. Use an inductive timing light to make sure you have spark on all 4 cylinders at low speed. Fuel. Use fresh fuel mixed at the correct ratio (50:1). |

i got a news paper from 1981 where a guy here built a hybeird electric car that got 180 mpg and can go 90 mph? Question: he was a friend of the family so my grandparents kept the artical...........i have it in a box here laminated, i tried to send it to a news paper and they ignored me........i heard in the 70's someone came up with an engin that gets 300+ miles to a gallon and the oil companies bought the paton on it and wont market it. Answer: High mpg & performance are not difficult. And what is a good transmission to pair with it to get the best performance? Answer: Why would you want to install a V6, and not a V8, which the Trans Am already comes equipped with? |

will parts from 1981 caprice fit a 90 caprice? Question: well i have a 1990 caprice in the shop right now but earlier today i went to the junk yard to find a window piece but instead i found a 1981 caprice in very mint condition so i went ahead and bought the hood,fenders,all four doors,front and rear seats and trunk lid. now my only question is that will all these parts fit my 1990. im guessing they will since they are box caprices i wont find out til its out the shop but just thought ill see what people have to tell me. thanks i asked the guy if they would fit and he said they would because '79-90 are mostly similiar in body except for a few mods, which sounded resonable since online i read of people taking steering columns and other parts out of different year caprices than theirs Answer: so sorry to burst your bubble but they will not fit. you should have ask the guy to check and see if they would before you got them. |

1981 Sea Sprite with a 1982 Johnson 90 HP will not turn over! PLEASE HELP!? Question: We have a boat that I would love to just pull my hair out over. Here are the details, anyone that could please help us would be great! Purchased a Sea Sprite, we have done the following: -Replaced the ALL of the following parts 1.Coils 2. Powerpacks 3. Trigger 4. Stator 5. Spark Plugs 6.Impeller 7. Retaifier 8.Battery 9. Carbs have been rebuilt ONE SIDE is still the only thing firing when it finally starts. It takes a TON of starting fluid to get it to start. Then once the "CHOKE" is all the way down and we go to put it into gear it cuts off. We have no idea what to do from here, please help! Answer: wow,you sure threw alot of parts at it .when people finally bring me boats like this,i back up to square one and check the basics.is the compression even?if not,you will never get it to run right.does it have good spark on all four cylinders?best that i remember this engine uses two 2 cylinder packs.if only one side is firing,disconnect the black/yellow wire from the side with no spark.if you get spark on all four now,ohm check the black/yellow wire to ground with the key on.it should be an open circuit.if not,unplug the main engine harness and recheck.if the wire now reads open,there is a problem with the boat side of the harness,ignition switch,or kill switch.i don't think that this engine has a shift interrupt switch,but if it does,unplug it and recheck.if all of this checks out good and, you haven't gotten it terribly out of time,(now would be a good time to check),you will have a fuel issue.NEVER use starting fluid on an outboard engine.go back through the carbs and recheck everything. if you installed all of your new parts correctly(flywheel key in place?),and none of them are defective(it happens),with compression,spark at the proper time and fuel,your engine will start and run. |

Question: Surely this cant be true as this would make the first book set in the early 90's and the final book set in 1998 yur view ? Answer: Exactly. They were married and had Harry very young. Harry was born 31st July 1980. The first book is set in 1991 if I do believe. The year I was born :) But when you think about it, that means that in the first book Snape is only 31. I always pictures him as much older. |
