How many miles has your BMW E36 (1991-2000) petrol done? Question: Just wandering as mine has done 193k and want to see if its good for many more miles. Answer: Mine has done 85k. 193k is quite good. I once new a car dealer whose wife owned a 318 which had done 242k and drove like a new car ! |

1991 Honda idle RPMs jumps from 1500 to 2000 and back in 1 second intervals on cold start? Question: My 1991 Honda Accord - When starting cold, the RPMs will jump from 1500 to 2000 back to 1500, and so on back and forth and 1 second intervals until the engine is warmed up and then idles at a constant RPM. What would cause this? Answer: Your idle speed control motor is malfunctioning at lower temps. Not an easy nor a cheap fix. It has to be replaced. |

Does anyone know where I can find a seat belt extension for a 1991 Nissan NX 2000? Question: I've tried contacting Nissan USA @ 1-800-647-7261 but they just sent me to a local Nissan dealership which wasn't much help. I've also tried ebay and had no luck. The seat belt has jammed and the only solution I could think of was getting a seat belt extension. Answer: you should be able to go to the dealership and get one i work for a fleet and our buses are fords E450 so we went to the dealership and they had them on hand. They said its a safety issue. |

Is there any way to switch over an engine from a 1991 Ford Taurus to a 2000 Mercury Cougar? Question: I was in an accident with the Cougar and it cracked something underneath so the oil pan casing and some other things are no good. The body is no good on the Taurus but has a good engine so I was wondering if any gear heads out there could give me some more direction. Thanks. Answer: The Taurus and the Cougar use completely different engines. To answer your Q - it's possible BUT it will cost a LOT more than buying a used engine for the Cougar. Besides a 21 years old motor is at the end of it's usefulness and will have to be overhauled soon. |

Would you pay $2000 for a 1991 honda civic hatchback with 200,000 miles on it? Question: I am looking for a hatchback to drive. Something good on gas and dependable. However, I only have $2000 to spare. Is this a rip off or do you think it is an okay deal? The car has never been wrecked, gets 35+ mpg. Thanks for your opinions :)) Answer: No. That car is worth maybe $500 and that's only if it's in excellent condition: no body damage, good paint, clean interior, decent tires, drives well, no engine noises or leaks. Average condition it's likely not worth $200. If you want a Civic for $2,000 you should be able to find a 95-96 in good condition about 100,000 miles and a lot of life left in it. |
