I am trying to trace an adopted child pre 1930 does anyone have an idea where i can start my search? Question: The child was born in new south wales australia pre 1930 Answer: I apologize for not knowing much about Australian government or localities. This page relates to Victoria, but it is possible that much of it might also be applicable to New South Wales. http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/findingyourstory/ It does seem like in Victoria, they appear to be open to helping adoptees (or descendents) with finding the records, UNDER CERTAIN LIMITATIONS. That is true in the US also... I don't know of any hospital that releases any sort of records to adoptees. In Australia, they seem to have a specified agency that works with persons/ families that have been adopted. This refers to a cut off date of 1928, that seems to fall in your goal. From first glance, this document is far more helpful than any I have seen, relatiing to US adoptions. |

Where can I find pre-1930 wheat pennies for a low price? Question: I have looked everywhere and people are always charging so much!!! Im looking for a bulk pack thats cheap but I have not had much luck.......:(. It would be great if someone would give me a suggestion to where there is cheap Wheat Pennies! Answer: If you live in any type of medium to large city, coin dealers usually have wheat cents for around .05 cents each maybe less, depending on how many you buy. See if you can find a copy of Numismatic News a weekly coin magazine. Coin dealers have them and check out their ads. Most local coin dealers have them for less than others so that the home town kids can start collecting. You are not going to get something for nothing though. I have seen them for $2 to $3 a roll. However a roll of 1930 and before is usually $5 and up. |

Were there any Spanish communities, or Spanish dynastic families in Samar, pre-1930's? Question: In my search for our ancestry, I have stumbled on info that my great grandma was "Spanish-looking" and came from Samar. I tried to search about Spaniards in Samar but the information I got was not sufficient. I wanna know if there were any Spanish dynastic families or Spanish communities in Samar pre-1930 (my grandma was born in the 1930's) and second, if there were Latin Americans who came to the Philippines during the Spanish occupation, where did their descendants settle, and did some of them settle in Samar to form communities? Thank you so much Answer: During the Spanish colonial era, Samar island was the first Philippine landfall seen by the Manila galleons as they approached the end of their long voyage from Acapulco. There is lots of old spanish colonial churches there. Ofcourse their were Spaniards and latin americans still living in Samar back in the 1930s,but i presume they are all gone now,due to world war 2 and the Marcos regime all can be found is people of Spanish ancestry, meztisas ,mezitsos also the Latin Americans and Spaniards have all passed away by now. |

Pre-1930 Musical Theatre Songs? Question: I am sitting an exam in the summer and need a musical theatre piece that dates before 1930 to complete my programme. It should be ideally grade 5 or above (not too hard!!) standard and suitable for a teenage girl, preferably soprano. Tough criteria but any suggestions would be greatly, greatly appreciated!! :D Answer: The Mikado is a pre-1930 musical, opening in 1885. I'm not sure about it being a grade 5 above. Actually, I have no idea what you're talking about with that. BUT it has a lot of soprano roles, including a famous song called "The sun whose rays are all ablaze" sung by the lead lady, Yum-Yum. This song can be easily found. There's also a musical-movie that was made in 2002, that is amazing. Worth watching. |

What are some good anime that are set pre 1930? Question: I just need some anime that involve kimonos or swords really Answer: Mushi-shi. The main character wears modernesque Western-style clothing, but everyone else wears Feudal-era Japanese clothing and lives a feudal-era Japanese lifestyle. It's a really fun show, and you can watch the episodes in any order you please. |

are antique dolls (pre-1930's) worth more with original clothing, even if the clothes are old and worn? Question: /these are family heirlooms and are not for sale. Answer: Yes, even with the worn clothes, the dolls with the original clothing are worth more and dolls without clothes. Since they are family heirlooms, you might be able to take the clothes to a doll repair place and have the clothing repaired. Store the dolls in a glass display case or in a acid free box. Good Luck. |
