Can someone that has never established credit and who has lots of bills in collections, buy a new home? Question: Have lots of medical bills and other misc. debts that have all been sent to collections, but have never had a credit card or any kind of extended credit... Want to know how I can purchase a new home or somehow get a loan, so that I can start to build credit. Answer: Before you do/apply for anything, get a copy of your credit report. Then look it over to make sure all those bills that were sent to collections are paid off. Once you're sure their all paid, be prepared to pay at least 25% down on your home at an interest rate between 7 and 9%. That's the going rate for bad or no credit right now. |

Where's the best place to find buttons in lots/collections? I am looking for novelty, gold, silver, old & new! Question: I have a couple of those fillable lamps that I received from a friend and wanted to fill them with buttons. I need LOTS of them and I can't afford to buy brand new ones. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to find/buy them? Any special sites or stores you may go to? Anyone maybe have any to get rid of at all? Please let me know. It would be much appreciated!!! Thank You!!! Answer: Go to freecycle.org and click on your region, on that page, scan down until you come to your state and local area, click on "goto" or "join" - You have to join to use it, but it's free! Once you've joined, you can request things you'd like to receive free. It's amazing what people will give away! You have to be willing to go pick it up wherever the donor says, but if you stick with your local area that shouldn't be hard! Good luck! |

Which is worse, having a lot of collections or a lot of late payments? Question: My friend has a higher credit score than me. She has 25 collections. I have no collections but eight late payments from 2002-2007. Answer: Late payments are worse. Late meaning over 90 or 120 days late. Your FICO score is reflective of your debt to credit ratio. If you have lots of debt owed on your available credit then you can be seen as a "high risk" borrower and that can lower your score. The best credit scores have open credit accounts with zero balances on those accounts or at least a history of on-time payments. The worst thing to affect credit scores are late payments or bankruptcies. |

Is it normal for my 6 year old son to have lots of collections of stuff he finds? Question: My son is ALMOST 6, and he picks EVERYTHING off the ground. Rocks, shiny things, beads, leafs, basically anything that good nice. He then brings it home and puts it into a box that he calls his "collection". He doesn't pick up anything dirty or Trash or anything like that. My Husband(his dad) thinks he shouldn't do that, and we should make him throw it back on the ground. I think it is okay as long as the stuff he is picking up isn't dangerous, and I spray it with disinfectant when it gets home. Should I let him collect it? Is it normal that he collects things?(just FYI he collects other things, certain toys and stuff). Thanks in advance everyone! Thank you everyone! I'm glad it is normal for his age, and I am going to tell my hubby to just deal with it! lol Answer: lol i have 3 sons so i can say w/out a doubt *lord yes* it's normal, hahaha. My oldest son liked beads and marbles and my middle son collected rocks and shiny things. my younges son is only 3 but even this young i can tell as we walk somewhere or when at the park his head snaps to the ground for anything neat looking. :P Sometimes i was okay w/whatever they wanted to keep depending on how 'clean' it was. obviously it it was a rusty piece of metal or something um...yeah that went back on the ground, but a shiny rock or a neat looking marble or leaf is fine. and i actually enjoy looking at the world through their eyes. it's so cool to see how children see the world and what they find beautiful. as they got older, we bought disposable camera to replace the collecting, and instead of bringing home pockets full of rocks (that on many occasions ruined my washing machine...haha) they snap a picture. :) i have albums full of these pics! pics of bugs, and stones, and trees, and shiny things. |
