How many of you are spell check freaks? Question: I can't help but proof read everything. Errors seem to be so obvious and yet others do not see them. I know others must do this. Does it drive people up the wall? Answer: Yes, I'm quite the spell check freak myself. I am also a Grammar Nazi. I mean, it's fine when you're talking with friends and such, but having good grammar can really help get your thoughts across more clearly. One of my biggest pet peeves is the issue with "your" and "you're". I cringe whenever I see it. It's not THAT hard to differentiate between the two. It's something people (are SUPPOSED to) learn early on in elementary school. The same applies for "there", "they're", and "their". To me, it just looks really bad. When this common mistake is made in an essay, written report, or whatever, it's like contaminating an entire water supply with one drop of urine... No matter how amazing the overall content might be, that one error could ruin the whole thing. Also, I like how Yahoo! Answers is a pretty laid back environment and all, but people shouldn't forget that others do use it as a reference site. People search for questions and answers on here all the time, so I think people should take more time proof reading their posts. For me, I think these pet peeves of mine have a lot to do with the fact that I had a really strict, yet really inspiring English teacher back in my senior year of high school. My papers aren't flawless, but I don't have to revise as much as other students. |

Does every newborn have to do tests for the inborn errors of metabolism? Question: I just received a letter from the inborn errors of metabolism for my son and they want certain tests done. i called the doctor that saw my son in the hospital but he didn't help me much when it came to explaining this to me. my 3 week old wont see his doctor until the 12th but has anyone else had to get tests done for their child and can someone explain what this means because im freaking out right now. thanks. Answer: Check the links below for more information on inborn errors or metabolism. Some tests that are perfomed on infants are required by law, so it could be the doctor fulfilling what is required by law. If it were me in your shoes, I would be relieved that the hospital and/or physicians are testing your child - it will save you a lot of heartache later on IF (if being a very big word) anything is wrong. Getting a problem diagnosed early will help with proper treatment and it will save your little one a lot of suffering, too IF (again that big word) they do find something. Please be very calm through the whole process and consider it nothing out of the ordinary - as minor as vaccinations or a simple well baby check up. Get with other relatives who have babies the same age or older and talk to them - it will help you through this. If you don't have anyone close by, ask about a new mother's support group in your area - talking things through with others in your same situation will really help you. New moms have a lot of concerns that a lot of times turn out to be not such a big deal and something that is very common - my wife went through this, so I understand your concerns. |

why does the 509 bandwidth limit exceeded thing keeps showing? Question: I read about it, either I exceeded the usage of this website or i have limited internet connection and i have used it all right? BUT the site is an educational site which i should get my final grades from so there shouldn't be a limit, and all of my friends who try it also get the same freaking error and i don't have limited internet connection..what should i do? Answer: The web host may have determined that the website you are supposed to go to has exceeded the bandwidth limit set out for it in the contract they have with the web host. |

Why familiar critics are vanishing from the Answers forum? Question: I find that many familiar Avtars are not seen in the forum for a long time!! Recently I come to know from Bala venkat that his account has been delinked from his access! But no notice of violation or any intimation was received from Yahoo also, says he! Could this be the reason for the disappearance of many familiar faces? Why such actions are taken unilaterally by yahoo? Or could it be any freak technical error?! Do share your views / facts! What could substitute Windows Movie Maker? Question: So I'm tired of getting this freaking error that makes Windows Movie Maker freeze and then I have to manually shut off my computer. So what could substitute WMM? That's easy to use. I've tried Sony Vegas Pro 9. HELLA COMPLICATED. I don't know how to split the clips.... then I returned it. Answer: If you went out and bought Vegas, I'd suggest Premiere CS4 from Adobe, in which splitting is as easy as using the split tool and clicking where you want to slip the clip. |
