What should I do with two sheets of mis-cut postage stamps? Question: I bought 4 sheets of Forever (self adhesive) postage stamps back when they were $.41 /stamp. I was just going to get my last two sheets yesterday, when I noticed that one side (of each sheet) was perforated the wrong way- as in, the actual graphic of the stamp was perforated in the center, instead of on the outside to frame the stamp. Will this make it more valuable? or if not, can I still use the stamps? (the wrong perforation should lessen the value, right?) Thanks for any suggestions. Answer: I can not understand how they are looking but it does not matter if you sell them and you should. Place them on e-bay, many stamp collectors need different styles of perforation and misprints at itself are also very special to collectors. I do not think it will make you rich. We're talking about little money. You will do best with a good scan or picture from the object. |

I have found sheets of 1980s english postage stamps, can i still use them? Question: Having sorted out the garage, I came across sheets of unused postage stamps, from 1p to £1 stamps, they originate from the 1980s some are ½p stamps too such as 10½p. can i still use these as legal postage? Answer: First check they are not worth more to a collector, but I don't think they will be, You may be offered under the face value for them, if that is the case, then use them as postage, but you can only add up the full pence to get the right value of today's postage, disregard the halfpence as this is no longer face value. We are doing the same thing. |

If those are notebooks like a4 paper then I think it will not require a lot of stamps. It depends on where you will send it though. |

Answer: Usually, I go by four sheets per stamp, so about five or six should be enough. It's better to add extra in case. With 24 sheets, its also more smarter to send by a larger envelope, rather than stuffing them all in an envelope. If it's too bulky, the USPS can issue a 20c surcharge for hand cancelling. |

What's the best way to sell my Stamp Collection of US Sheet Stamps? Question: I have about 200 sheets of stamps from the 40s through the 60s. Is there a way of selling the collection all at once and getting good value or should I just try to sell them off one by one. There are a few that are somewhat more valuable such as some early space stamps a series of flag stamps I've looked on ebay but people who sell similar stamps don't seem to get any bids. Answer: These stamps mostly do not sell well on eBay or elsewhere. In fact, most of them are best used as postage. But not quite all - a few may be worth a premium over the postage value. Mystic Stamp Company is a good place to start. Or get a copy of Linn's Weekly Stamp News, and look through the "Wanted to Buy" ads. Or take them to a meeting of a nearby stamp club and ask their advice - you can find a club in your area with a few mouse clicks at http://www.stamps.org . |

Question: so, i've never sent anything and i am now. the number of stamps depends on the weight of the mail. so if 2 sheets of paper is one stamp than how many is 3 sheets of paper and a really light weight bracelet? and i know this isnt hw help, but i didnt kno a catergory. also, stamps are 35 cents each, rite, lol? and i cant take it to weight it, so if i put 2 stamps and its not 2 stamps are they gonna send it back? braclet is rubber Answer: Well one ounce or less is a first class stamp, but you've stumped me on the bracelet part. It would have to be weighed to know. It's weight that counts, not size. |

Where to buy protective plastic covers for full stamp sheets? Question: I've been given the responsibility by a family member to take care of 500-600 full stamp sheets from the 60's & 70's. They are currently stored kind of haphazardly in large envelopes that, surprisingly, has kept them in really nice condition. But at this time I'd like to take the time to store them properly for preservation and presentation. Such beautiful stamps should not be kept in hiding. So the question is, where to buy reasonably priced, but archival quality sheet protectors for stamp sheets? One thing I do know is they cannot be a vinyl based product. Thanks! Answer: I would try a store that provides scrabook supplies. All of that is achival. There are several sizes of page protectors available. |

Answer: I'm sorry to tell you that you might be lucky to get face value for your stamps. You can pick up many guides that will give you a worth, but those numbers are only good if you find a buyer. Your best bet is to determine the Scott's number of the sheets you have and then do a ebay search of completed sales of that item. You can purchase a "Guide to Stamps" at your local PO which will give the stamp numbers, however the prices listed are retail from a philatelic dealer. You would be lucky to get 25% of them unless you have a rare item. |
